Jonathan Davis, vocalist and occasional bagpiper with multi-million selling nu-metal monsters Korn, is to bring his solo tour - dubbed 'Alone I Play' as a pun on Korn's 2002 single 'Alone I Break' - to Europe. The dates follow a successful European tour in 2007 with Korn and an American leg of the solo tour which ran through November and December.
"I have wanted to do this forever," says Davis. "Ever since I did the Queen of the Damned record I have wanted to be able to play those songs live. The U.S. dates were a blast. Kids packed themselves into these small venues and rocked out. This is a more personal experience for me and a chance for European fans to see it up close in small rooms."
The European dates will include club shows in Poland, Germany and Scandinavia before Davis and his backing band hit the festival circuit, with appearances at the prestigious Pinkpop in Holland, Rock Am Ring in Germany and finally the Download festival in the UK.
The setlist for the shows will consist of rarely played Korn numbers, covers and songs from the 2002 The Queen Of The Damned soundtrack, most of which Davis wrote with noted film composer Richard Gibbs. Covers played on the American leg of the tour have included 'The Chauffeur' by Duran Duran, 'Love On The Rocks' by Neil Diamond and 'Blue Monday' by New Order.
In addition to the dates, Davis and his touring ensemble have recorded a live album and DVD, also titled Alone I Play. It is currently being sold at shows, with a full commercial release planned later in 2008.
Davis' backing band for the tour consists of:
